50 minutes by car are the classic multi coloured Italian coastal towns of San Terenzo and Lerici where safe swimming from lovely beaches can be enjoyed, many beachfront cafes, gelataria and restaurants are conveniently positioned for passing business.
Visitors can enjoy a boat trip across the bay to beautiful Portovenere, there are spectacular views looking back across the bay towards the mainland and the Apuan Alps, further on round the headland is the Cinque Terre (5 lands) where 5 villages are built on near vertical cliffs above tiny little harbours.
